Can lithium batteries be sent?
Yes, in the case of non-rechargeable lithium metal batteries used in watches or calculators, for example, or rechargeable lithium-ion batteries used in mobile phones and laptops, etc.
However, there are certain limitations:
- The lithium batteries must be fitted inside electronic devices and under no circumstances may be transported if packed individually.
- A maximum of 4 non-rechargeable or 2 rechargeable batteries may be sent in each consignment.
- Strong outer packaging is essential when sending batteries.
- The contents must be packed properly to avoid any damage during transit.
- There is a formal ban on transporting defective or damaged batteries.
- The total lithium content and nominal energy in Watthours must not exceed the following limits:
