Designed to reduce the fraudulent use of credit cards in Luxembourg, the evolution of 3D Secure is considered an additional security layer for your online purchases.
As of 1 January 2021, the European Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) will strengthen the security of online purchases. This means that you will have to authenticate yourself via 3D Secure with your LuxTrust device and no longer with an SMS code.
You can choose to :
- Use your classic token, 3D Secure has integrated a “secret image” into authentication. This image will systematically appear when the single-use code is entered to validate their purchases. To recall, this is the same image which is displayed when a user currently performs a banking transaction via his online bank.
- Use the LuxTrust Mobile App to validate your online purchases. In this way, they will no longer be blocked if they do not have their Token to hand.

You can activate 3D Secure using your eBanking app. To activate the 3D Secure service for all of your credit cards or Easy Visa, you have two options:
Log in to eboo then
- Select the "Cards" menu. Click on the three dots linked to the card, then click on "Activate 3D Secure".
- Or go to "Settings" in the "Security" section, then click on "3D Secure". Click on the three dots linked to the card, then click on "Activate 3D Secure".
To finish, select your Token and set your own personal message. Your card is activated immediately for online purchases.
