Special stamp 75 years of Luxembourg’s liberation
The American soldiers arrived in Luxembourg on the 9th September 1944. Their troops and tanks were first seen in Petingen. That was also where the first American soldier died on Luxembourg soil.
On the 10th September 1944 US soldiers occupied Luxembourg City, which the German troops surrendered without much resistance.
